Just Peachy

2015-07-19 Reliance-Peach-Tree 004

A bush, really, stems short and awkward –
A tree, actually, stunted and wide,
easily damaged by extremes.

Survival.

Fruit flowers blossom pink in the sun,
giving way to fruit, not pink at all –
Orange, yellow, red.

Succulent.

Juice dribbles through soft fuzzy skin
ripened by a perfect blend of the elements.
A pit tossed aside to, perhaps, begin its own battle.

About justbrinkley

poetry, flash fiction, prompts from a southern granny who should have been a writer.
